*sigh* Dresscode...eep does it cause some problems! Our dresscode has lightened in the past 2 years though...it went from wearing a dress every Wednesday for Chapel to wearing atleast slacks to chapel to no chapel wear at all. So its not so bad...Anywhoo, no spaghetti straps, or tank tops, only sleeveless shirts. If you do wear skirts they have to be below the knee (altho alot of us get away with above the knee), no shorts until May 1st of the year and then they have to be past mid thigh. <----- big problem for us girls. And nothing that promotes alchol, drugs, sex or smoking. Nothing tight or lowcut either...and no hair dye thats un-natural colors. Other then that I think thats it.... So its not to bad...but it also depends on which teacher you have that day and what they think is provocitive/tight/inapropriot....

^^^ actually in my area public schools are more up-tight. They all wear uniforms, and have a bunch of other stuff that apparently is stricter then our school. It's not very strict compared to some other private schools or public schools.

Private schools are uptight but especially religious private schools. I am in college now but from 1st to 9th grade I was in a christian private school. And when I was there the base rules that have always been was No shorts, no unaproved Tshirts, no peircings on guys or girls, no make up of any sort even nail painting, girls could only wears skirts that went past the ankle, Girls couldn't cut their hair, Guys couldn't have facial hair or hair longer than their eyebrow.
Then as it went on we couldn't wear blue jeans, and then no tshirts, I left and after I left they went to uniforms. On top of that girls and guys had to stay 1 foot apart, and sat on different sides of the lunch room and chapel. It was horrible, i'm glad i'm out and I feel sorry for everyone who is still there or has to go through anything like that.

<<<< Girls couldn't cut their hair, Guys couldn't have facial hair or hair longer than their eyebrow. >>>>
Now that's just ridiculous.
<<<< On top of that girls and guys had to stay 1 foot apart, and sat on different sides of the lunch room and chapel. >>>>
Now that's just wrong. (Not to mention, stupid,IMO)

We didn't have much of a dress code at the school that I was at last year. The only thing that was specifically banned was shirts with names or pictures of bands on them. Other than that, they just told us to dress modestly, in clothes that were appropriate for the school environment, not dressing to purposely draw attention to ourselves or distract others, and that we weren't supposed to wear things that promoted sex, drugs or violence. The bottom line was that if a teacher told us that something was innapropriate, we had to change.
There were no major problems. Everyone just kind of wore what they wanted- things like tank tops and short shorts weren't banned. Backless shirts and really short mini-skirts weren't allowed, though.

I have to wear a uniform. But it's okay, because they're not really strict about it, and you can choose which pieces of the uniform you want to wear. So it's all good.

This one middle school that I had to go to said that we *had* to wear uniforms.. but after school started they said we could wear whatever we want but:: no baggy jeans, no long t-shirts (but they had to be tucked in) But.. yeah that was basically it.

That's kind of pointless. First they tell you that there are uniforms, and they say that it don't matter what you wear? And why don't they like long shirts?

Our dress code kind of went....*swoosh*....down the toilet. They don't really care what you wear, unless it's REALLY skanky.
